Anulom Vilom Pranayam

Anulom Vilom means Alternate Nostril Breathing. It is a type of breathing exercise to purify mind and body and balancing between the both. Exercising Anulom Vilom for more than 10 minutes fills you with energy and helps you do day to day tasks more efficiently. Spiritual gurus suggest to do anulom vilom early in the morning during the sunrise which makes it more beneficial than at other usual time.

Instructions
  • Sit comfortably on the flat ground.
  • Initiate with breathing with left nostril, keeping other nostril shut with the thumb of the right hand. Ensure that your lungs are entirely filled with air. Doing this pranayam early in the morning is more beneficial as composition of oxygen in the air is more during morning.
  • Hold breath for 3 seconds.
  • Now, shut your left nostril with the index finger and remove your thumb from right nostril.
  • Breath out from right nostril.
  • Again, hold the air out for 3 seconds.
  • Breath in from right nostril, hold the breath for 3 seconds and then breath out from left nostril by closing right nostril with the thumb and removing index finger from left nostril.
  • Again, hold the air out for 3 seconds.
  • This results in completion of one round of anulom vilom pranayam.
  • Repeat the above mentioned procedure for at least 10 minutes.
